The Seed Manager is accountable to continue the successful growth of seed sales and further develop a sales strategy for Sylvite Agri Services that aligns with Sylvite Agri-Services Vision & strategy.

The Seed Manager will be accountable for managing the seed business & seed partner relationships as it pertains to seed procurement and sales. A high level of collaboration with the General Manager Procurement and General Manager SAS as well as the Customer Service team to carry out sales strategies will be required. With growth in mind they will coach, develop and train the sales people from preparation of a sales call to closing the sale as it pertains to the complete line up of seed products and services. Responsible for providing feedback on metric’s and sales data analysis to the sales teams and Leadership on a regular basis.

Primary Tasks and Accountability

– Responsible for creating sales strategies, goal setting and selling techniques which drive the sales team in seed business .

– Manages business relationship with seed partners as it pertains to forecasting, planning, pricing, logistics, inventory/reconciliation, sku management, analysis and communication of programs.

– Accountable for sales revenue/profitability of seed business with high communication to branches on sales metrics on a regular basis.

– Responsible for improving sales and margin growth by means of training, coaching, setting sales expectations, completing action plans and implementing change that positively impacts seeds sales.

– Manage pricing and programs to maximize margin opportunity.

– Access market information & trends to position and work with our seed partner staff to drive our customer sales strategy inclusive of all SAS offerings.

– Creating customer value by basic principles of service & value, trained knowledgeable people while evaluating new products, services and technologies by using software to record and organize to enhance and maximize the grower and our profits.

– Be actively involved at plot and branch events that results in bottom line performance for SAS.

– Ensure active usage of CRM and other sales applications, collaborate with IT on sales technology initiatives.

– Innovate ideas & solutions to create value for the growers by helping the branches to get the right products and services at the right time.

– Provide a high level of customer service and support to our location staff in accordance to stated commitment levels, collaborate with peers to ensure best business practices across all areas of the business.

– Actively involved in industry associations for the betterment of the industry and agriculture such as Seeds Canada, O.A.B.A. etc

Requirements

– Seed Manager should have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, for seed partner relations and also good leadership skills with the ability to motivate and coach our staff to achieving goals.

– They should have good negotiating & marketing skills both on the buy and sell sides of our business. Should be proficient in the use of computers and software such as MS Word, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint and an intermediate level of MS Excel. They should be assertive and handle pressure effectively.

– Must have a working knowledge agronomy
