Sylvite’s port location at the Hamilton pier is an integral part of Sylvite’s wholesale operation and business.
Over this past season, Sylvite’s team at the Hamilton Port have been busy implementing and assisting with several projects to improve and re-invest in our business.
The Hamilton Team has installed brand new PVC liners in 3 of our liquid tanks, bringing our total storage capacity to 15,000 mt of UAN solution. Given the corrosive nature of UAN fertilizer, Sylvite felt it prudent to take all necessary steps to ensure the integrity of our storage tanks, and take the necessary precautions to protect the environment. Given the fact that our Hamilton location does sit on a pier, these liners are able to provide us with an extra level of protection if a leak were ever to occur.
The lining of steel storage tanks of this nature is increasingly becoming the standard in the industry. Our tanks were close to thirty years old; now with these new liners, the tanks will have a renewed life of at least 20 years! We are continually striving to ensure every safety measure and guideline is met or exceeded. It is top priority for us to be mindful of our impact on the environment.
