Plant Operations Manager

Sylvite is currently seeking a Plant Operations Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for leading day-to-day plant operations, supporting our Agri-Services network, and ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable facility performance.

About the Role

This is a leadership role at the center of plant operations, responsible for overseeing safety, inventory management, logistics coordination, and team performance. You will lead plant staff, manage facility operations, and work closely with internal teams including procurement, transportation, and retail branches to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

This role also plays an important part in customer interaction, sales support, and maintaining strong relationships across the business. Success in this position requires a hands-on leader who can balance operational oversight, team leadership, and customer service in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead all aspects of plant operations, including safety, maintenance, regulatory compliance, and daily activities
  • Manage and develop plant staff, including hiring, training, performance management, and coaching
  • Oversee inventory storage, yard operations, and movement of product between facilities
  • Coordinate with branches, transportation, and internal teams to meet customer and operational needs
  • Monitor and maintain plant infrastructure, including buildings, equipment, and repair schedules
  • Support dispatch and logistics planning to ensure timely product movement
  • Develop and implement operational procedures to improve efficiency and consistency
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Act as the primary contact for site visitors, customers, and external stakeholders, maintaining a safe and professional environment
  • Manage large-scale inventory movements, including rail, truck, and warehouse coordination
  • Support financial performance by managing budgets, reviewing monthly reports, and identifying opportunities to improve results
  • Assist in sales support activities, including customer communication, issue resolution, and maintaining strong business relationships
  • Monitor market conditions, competitor activity, and product performance to support business growth
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, and enhance operational performance

About You

  • 5+ years of experience in a management role, with 3+ years in agriculture or a related industry
  • Post-secondary education in business or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a team
  • Proven ability to manage operations in a fast-paced, multi-functional environment
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • High level of organization and attention to detail
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to balance operational and service priorities
  • Ability to manage change, resolve conflict, and lead teams through evolving business needs
