PRODUCT | RATE | COST/AC | FLEABANE | STRENGTHS | WEAKNESSES |
Rival + Dual | 0.9L/ac + 0.6L/ac | $39.94 | No | Excellent grass control, good control of nightshade and lamb’s quarters, decent on pigweed. Rival rates can be adjusted based on pressure. | Weak on ragweed, velvetleaf. Must be incorporated in 2 directions. Higher rate of Rival should be used if Lamb’s Quarters is a concern. |
Prowl H2O + Pursuit | 0.95L/ac + 85mL/ac | $27.96 | No | Good grass control, good control of lamb’s quarters, nightshade, good on velvetleaf. | Control of nightshade, lamb’s quarters, ragweed and foxtails reduced if Group 2 resistant. |
Rival + Dual + Permit | 0.7L/ac + 0.6L/ac + 18g/ac | $55.20 | Residual (Permit) | Strongest preplant mix – good broadleaf and grass control, including lamb’s quarters. Usually results in a less intensive post program. Can suppress sow thistle a bit. | More expensive, can’t use Permit post if used Pre. Group 2 resistance may reduce control. Rival must be incorporated in 2 directions. |
Dual + Permit + Pursuit | 0.6L/ac + 18g/ac + 80mL/ac | $ 53.50 | Residual (Permit) | Another strong preplant mix that can be left on the surface in reduced tillage situations. Dual and Permit rates can be bumped up a little (0.7L/ac + 21g/ac) if higher pressure. | More expensive, can’t use Permit post if used Pre. Group 2 resistance will reduce control. Should be applied 7 days before planting with a rain in between to help incorporate. |
Dual + Permit | 0.6L/ac + 18g/ac | $42.06 | Residual (Permit) | Best mix if nutsedge is an issue. Can be left on surface, good lamb’s quarters control as well. Dual adds grass control. | More expensive, weak on proso millet. Should be applied 7 days before planting with a rain. Group 2 resistance may reduce control, including Group 2 resistant Fleabane. |

Reflex | 0.4L/ac | $19.72 | No | Best for Ragweed, Pigweed, good on nightshade. Tank-mix with grass product for grass/vol. corn control. | Does not control lamb’s quarters, limited impact on velvetleaf, fleabane. |

**These products are best tank-mixed together when targeting a wide spectrum of weeds**
NOTES ON PREHARVEST: Gylphosate is no longer an approved desiccant for dry beans. Alternative products, including those below, are available to drydown weeds and the crop.
Contact your Sylvite Ag Consultant for timing and rates. Coverage is key; all Preharvest treatments should use a MINIMUM of 20gal/ac water; higher water volumes will be required for heavier weed pressure and/or more dense crop canopies. Spray during the heat of the day on a bright, sunny day.

Eragon LQ + Merge | 59mL/ac + 0.4L/ac | $17.45 | Emerged (20 leaf) | Improves harvestability and drydown and provides a clean start for following wheat crop. Can also help manage nightshade. | At this point, weed control is simply for harvestability. Yield has been impacted and weeds have likely gone to seed. Won’t completely drop all nightshade berries. |
*Reglone and Ignite may be options where Eragon LQ won’t provide adequate desiccation of heavy weed pressure. Consult your contracting elevator for approved desiccants.
